November 5 Election: Open Seats and Qualification

Commission Seats to be elected in the City of Dunedin, Florida, on November 5, 2024:

Mayor

Commissioner Seat 1

Commissioner Seat 3

Per the City Charter, Section 5.03, Elections, the Commissioners will serve a four (4) year term, commencing the second (2nd) Monday following the election (Special Meeting of November 18, 2024).

Pursuant to the Dunedin City Charter, Section 5.01, Elections, "All persons qualified as an elector of this State, under the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Florida, who reside within the corporate boundaries of the City of Dunedin, and who are duly registered on the registration books of Pinellas County shall be qualified electors of the City of Dunedin in all elections except as otherwise provided by law."

Further, pursuant to the Dunedin City Code, Sec. 26-73, Method of qualifying, "As a condition precedent to qualifying, the candidates shall be required to file with their petition cards personal affidavits showing that they are residents of the City, having physically resided therein for a period of at least one year immediately prior to submitting the petition cards and are qualified electors of the City."

Further, pursuant to the Dunedin City Code, Sec. 26-74, Time for qualifying, "No person may qualify as a candidate prior to the 113th day before the next City election nor later than 12 p.m., local time, on the 99th day before the said election, except that if the 99th day falls on a day that is a Saturday, Sunday or City Holiday, the qualifying period shall be extended to the next City Business day."
