Public Meeting - Golf Cart Micromobility Infrastructure Plan
The City of Dunedin is seeking public input and feedback on a thorough review and evaluation of its Golf Cart Micro-Mobility Infrastructure Plan. The City is working with Benesch, a transportation planning firm, on this project.
Residents are invited to a public workshop-style meeting on November 15, at 5:30 p.m., at City Hall, 737 Louden Avenue. Benesch and City staff will present a brief project overview followed by community input, discussion and education at tables with experts in the City Hall atrium.
Public is encouraged to attend and participate.
The City of Dunedin has a long-standing history of allowing golf carts as an alternative mode of transportation, beginning with the 1983 Golf Cart Ordinance which allowed residents to travel between their homes and the Dunedin Golf Course. In 2008, the City Commission expressed interest in expanding the area where golf carts could be operated as a more generalized form of alternative transportation.
Since the inception and evolution of this program, golf carts have proven to be an economical and fun way for residents and visitors to get around. This project places a strong emphasis on improving that user experience for golf cart users and prioritizes safety, operations, education, and training. It also explores the possibility of expanding the golf cart program by adding amenities like charging stations, defined parking areas, and establishing crossings at FDOT roadways.
