Marina

Marina is Closed Due to Damage from Hurricanes

The Dunedin Marina remains closed due to extensive hurricane damage. This includes the marina basin, boat ramp, day docks, and fishing pier. Additionally, there is no availability for transient slips. However, commercial charter businesses are open, as well as Olde Bay Cafe. Boating classes will continue to be offered as scheduled. Please note that public parking is limited. We appreciate your patience during this time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What damages were incurred by the hurricanes at the marina?
Hurricanes Helene and Milton caused extensive damage throughout the Marina. The damages include but are not limited to, total destruction of the pier and day docks, east seawall collapse, north seawall damage, parking lot collapse, complete electrical system submersion, water main break, fire suppression system damage, main dock damage, finger dock damage, and piling damage.
  • Why is the Marina closed?
The damages incurred during the hurricanes created multiple life safety risks in various areas throughout the Marina. Due to these life safety issues, the Dunedin Marina is closed by order of the Dunedin Fire Marshal.
  • How long will the Marina be closed?
The length of the closure is unable to be determined at this time. Once we have more information on an estimated length of time, we will provide an update.
  • When will the repair/replacement of the damaged areas begin?
Repair and replacement of storm damage is a complex and often lengthy process beginning with insurance adjusters, FEMA representatives, Marine and Electrical Engineers, all performing inspections and assessments of the damages. The careful and methodical completion of this part of the process is vital to the City receiving reimbursement funding for the cost of repair/replacement of storm damages. Once these reports have been completed, the City will be able to determine the next steps for repair and replacement of the damaged areas.
  • What happens while we wait for assessment and inspection reports?
Once we have the necessary information for making decisions on how we will proceed, the scope of the project can be finalized. Our Engineering Department is currently completing as much of the bid package as possible so that it can be quickly finalized once the scope of the project is determined. They are also working along with Engineering Consultants for expediting the application for permits required by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and Pinellas County.
  • How can I follow the progress?
We will provide updates on our website at www.DunedinFL.net/Marina as they become available. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please feel free to contact the Harbormaster’s Office at 727-298-3030 or by email at LFerguson@DunedinFL.net.
