Did you know that there are 1,212,383 libraries worldwide that provide 18,954,563 transactions per day, which amounts to 5,265 transactions per second! According to a new poll from the American Library Association, 76% of Americans visited their local public library in the past year, compared with 65.7% two years ago, and 68% of Americans have a library card. Amost all Americans (92 percent) polled said they view their local library as an important educational resource.

In 2009, there were 376,705 visits to the Dunedin Public Library and 600,951 items were checked out to patrons!

ADULT PROGRAMS

Card Magic-- Wednesdays, September 8 & September 15, 2:00 PM
Master Magician, Bill Kahn, will demonstrate how to entertain with an everyday deck of cards in two 2-hour workshops. Bring your own deck of cards. He will also bring copies of his latest book on card magic called Kahncepts.

The Dunedin Yacht Club Crowd at the Turn of the Century-- Wednesday, September 22, 2:00 PM
Program will be presented by Alfred A. Hamilton and Dorothy Malone Hamilton and will include Dunedin Public Library history. Dorothy Malone Hamilton is a decendent of the Malone fmaily who dominated social life in Dunedin in the later 19th century. She and her husband, Alfred, have written a book on her ancestors called Hezekiah Pennington Malone: We Didn't Know Who You Were.

Railroading in Pinellas County-- Wednesday, September 29, 2:00 PM
Vinnie Luisi, Director of the Dunedin Historical Museum, will talk about his latest book on the history of the railroad in Pinellas County. There will be a book-signing following the program.

Dunedin Public Library's butterfly garden, which is maintained by the Dunedin Garden Club, was awared 1st Place by the Area Beautification Council in May 2008. You can stroll through our Reading Garden and access the butterfly garden.
